Good morning. I’m Saul Reisman here at Saul’s Automotive and today we are going to talk a little bit about what makes us different from your regular parts replacing mechanic shop.
Here at Saul’s Automotive we have some unique differences that we see often times with motor vehicles. For instance, every weekend on Saturdays and Sundays, Saturday parts availability is 30 percent of what it is on a weekday and Sunday is 10 percent of what it is on a weekday. Which often mean we have travelers come in that need a repair and we’re here, the cars here, and the tools are here. The parts are not and we are stuck with this problem. As a result, we’ve resulted to what we call the farmer mentality.
Something that we learned from those in rural areas here growing up in Denver. The idea that if you live more than 20 miles away from the department store it might be faster, cheaper, or more efficient to fix it yourself rather than repair, replace with a new part off the shelf. Especially if one is not available. One of those aspects that we look at here is manufacturing and reproducing parts. In the event that a simple motor vehicle product can’t be purchased, we will often times fabricate a replacement. At the same time, many basic motor vehicle parts simply wore out or were designed to fail based on a poor engineering principle and we’ll often re-engineer them or combat those problems to see how we can better make a product to last longer for our guests in the future.
To help with that initiative we’ve invested in some new equipment here. Starting with a 20-ton hydraulic shop press. So that we can not only press bearings and seals across all motor vehicles but we can physically assemble hard componentry here in-house. A 10-inch 200-pound bench vice, so that we can hand form sheet metal and that we can steel form and roll form many cold rolled steels. Your basic old school blacksmiths anvil of course, a dual compound miter saw so that when building specific brackets for bumpers, slow plows, or any other fabrication of trailer hitches or the like. Even your bike rack or ski rack, maybe that spare tire holder, or the gas can holder on the back of your Jeep.
We actually produce those here in house and we can modify yours as well. Let’s say you want to add a shovel holder, something basic, we employ that tooling. Last but not least of course your basic 14-inch chop saw and then we get the real fun tools. We have of course our Lincoln electric 240 over 120 welders. Which is the utmost of sensational use for us as we’re able to fabricate exhaust componentry here in house literally one inch at a time. The one tool that we can’t show you on television because it’s simply too bright to use, the plasma cutter. Or as they call it God’s pencil. Simply a tool that you can hold in your hand to draw away sheet metal, cut open through sheet metal, and stitch back together.
We are literally to be able to fabricate components here in house. Let’s say a 20-year-old vehicle comes in and it needs a fuel pump and the tank is so rusted we can’t even touch it. We can cut a hole through the floorboard of the vehicle, create an access panel, service that pump from above, and then weld it back in to make sure our traces were never there. That way we can assure the most cost effective repair, a timely repair, and to keep you on the road.
