Finishing Repairing A Rolls Royce Silver Shadow Denver Greenwood Village

Good morning. I’m Saul Reisman here at Saul’s Automotive, and today we’re gonna do a wrap-up with the 1972 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow that we’re finishing up with.

This Denver vehicle’s been with us for a few months. We’ve had to do some pretty extensive repairs, and today we’re finishing up the last piece of the puzzle.

Now, we’d completed all the engine, mechanical, running, brake repairs and the very last piece, in this case, was the clock in the dashboard, and in this case, that meant disassembling a wood-grain, burl wood dash that’s actually a hand assembled a piece of wood. Removing it from the vehicle. Dismounting that clock. Sending it to an independent German clockmaker who specializes in repairing this type of device, and then reassembling, reinstalling it in the vehicle.

In this case, that’s about an eight-hour Denver auto repair labor job in the dashboard of the car alone, and because of the eccentricities of the wood that’s used in the vehicle, we have to be extremely cautious when doing such. There are no replacements available for this and, due to some political correctness factors, there never will be any replacements available.

To create the dashboard of this vehicle, Rolls Royce actually waited until there’s a storm that occurred in Brazil that fell several teak trees, so that they could claim the wood of these whole trees as they were whole, transport them across the world via ship to use the wood that was in them for these dash pieces. There was no other way that they would be able to satisfy the demand of their owners and still satisfy the demand of those protecting the local forest.

So the vehicle itself, we were actually able to remove the center section of the dashboard, remove the clock housing itself and then take the entire centerpiece away from the vehicle to be serviced independently. Rather than repairing it while it’s still mounted into the interior of the vehicle, this gives us an opportunity to disassemble it to its complete base and ensure that it’s literally built as it was from the factory from the ground up.

If you’ve got a classic or a collector vehicle and you’ve got concerns about it or you need a little love like this one did to keep it in a collectible state, please give us a call here at Saul’s Automotive. We would be honored to take a look at yours, give you some great advice as to what best may suit it in the long run and get a good game plan to keep it lookin’ beautiful for years to come.

If you have any questions, feel free to stop by or call us anytime. We’re here in South Denver at 303-919-7769. Thank you.
